Elizabeth Keith Prints for Sale

The artist Elizabeth Keith was born in Scotland and was self-taught, initially making watercolors and drawings.At the age of 28, she traveled to Japan - her sister had married an English publisher in Tokyo and her trip was planned as a short vacation but Elizabeth was fascinated by the charm of Japan and the Asian culture and arts, and stayed for 9 years. Renowned printmaker Shosaburo Watanabe became interested in the talented British artist and invited her to create designs to be used for traditional Japanese woodblock prints. She became engrossed in Japanese woodblock printmaking techniques, and over the years Watanabe published more than 100 of her woodblock prints
