Dick Bruna Prints for Sale

The illustrator Dick Bruna was born in Utrecht on 23 August 1927. He not only wrote and illustrated more than 124 picture books, but also designed many posters and book covers. During a career spanning 60 years, Dick Bruna gained international acclaim. He retired in 2011 and died in February 2017 at the age of 89.

The simplicity of Bruna's characters drew adoration not only from children, but also from adult art lovers. A children's book illustrator with a real passion for art, Dick Bruna counted among his influences, on the one hand, Walt Disney, and on the other Rembrandt and Van Gogh. He also deeply admired the works of Picasso, Matisse, and the Dutch artistic movement De Stijl. He was best known as the creator of the children’s character Nijntje (Miffy in English), a minimally drawn white bunny that featured in 32 books. The Miffy books were translated into more than 50 languages.

It is very rare to come across this artist's original, signed screen prints among the plethora of modern day copies of his work!
