Stanley HAYTER Two Compositions  (1952)

Composition I - by Helen Phillips and Stanley Hayter. a soft-ground copper etching proof in colours on vellum paper. Signed S W Hayter and Helen Phillips lower right in pencil, dated (19)55 and annotated 'All the Best for '56, Bill', probably a Christmas card to a friend. Image size: 146 x 110mm, Paper size 250 x 137mm

In good condition, and printed at an angle on the sheet. The paper has light discolouration, some foxing marks and handling creases as well as a small 5mm tear on the lower right edge. The image itself is in very good condition and will frame up beautifully

Seal: Composition - by Stanley Hayter, a colour linoleum engraving proof on vellum paper. Signed and dated (19)56  lower right and annotated above in ball point pen from the artist and his wife, Helen Phillips. Image size: 112 x 143mm, Paper size: 167 x 199mm

In fair condition (showing it's age!) with some abrasion, ink-loss and discolouration to the paper, all which will be less noticeable if framed.

Both prints referenced in Black and Moorhead, 216 and 231 respectively.

All in all two interesting and rare little 1950s treasures by two well known artists - a guaranteed talking point when framed together on your wall!
