Alexander CALDER Les Vagues (The Waves)  (1970)

SOLD Get an Email Alert if it's listed again

An original lithograph printed in colours on fine cream Arches wove paper. Boldly signed Calder in pencil in the yellow ink lower left and numbered from the small limited edition of 99 lower right (there were also 50 Artists's Proofs numbered in Roman numerals). Published by Maeght, Paris.

In very good condition with strong, unfaded colours. Some stains to the reverse not affecting the front of the print. We love this abstract and striking jewel of a print, hugely rare and collectable and instantly recognisable as an Alexander Calder!

Alexander Calder worked as an abstract sculptor and has been commonly referred to as the creator of the mobile. He transformed wire and metal into delicate geometric shapes that respond to the wind or float in the air, a direct response to the forces of nature itself.
