Patrick Heron Prints for Sale

Patrick Heron (1920-99) s best known for his vividly coloured abstract paintings and prints. Inspired by the French painters Henri Matisse and Georges Braque, he turned to abstraction in his mid-30s under the influence of Abstract Expressionism, in particular the Colour Field Painting style popularized by Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman. Patrick Heron has had several retrospective exhibitions including Wakefield City Art Gallery (1952); the Museum of Modern Art, Oxford (1968); Whitechapel Art Gallery (1972); Barbican Art Gallery (1985); and Tate Britain (1998). Paintings and prints by Patrick Heron can be seen in many of the best art museums around the world, including: British Museum, Tate Gallery, Victoria & Albert Museum and Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art
