David HOCKNEY Corbusier Chair and Rug (framed)  (1969)

SOLD Get an Email Alert if it's listed again

Original offset lithograph in colours on wove paper after the coloured pencil drawing of the same name. From the very rare signed edition before text was added, for the poster for Hockney's exhibition at the Andre Emmerich Gallery in New York in 1969. The poster was reprinted by Petersburg Press in a larger edition in 1981. Size of frame: 74cm x 67cm.

In good condition, there is very faint matt burn which has been completely covered by brand new framing in a beautiful aluminium frame with anti-reflective glass, the colours are strong and bright. A typically eye-catching, super-rare and very hip signed Hockney print in greys and blues.

The clean lines of Le Corbusier's famous LC2 armchair complement the organic symmetry of Southwestern-style Kilim rug in front of it. Hockney often depicted his models seated in a chair, and here the chair is empty, rich with the possibility of the next sitter.
