Salvador DALI The Sewing Machine  (1975)

£1,795

La Máquina de Coser / La Machine À Coudre [The Sewing Machine] from the 1975 portfolio of 12 etchings titled Hommage à Leonardo da Vinci. An original drypoint etching with pochoir (hand colouring, including some lovely copper-coloured) on cream Arches France watermarked wove paper boldly hand-signed in pencil lower right, this being an AP/Artist's Proof aside from the limited edition of 450 (there were 60 AP/Artist's Proofs and 20 HC/Hors Commerce). Published by Editions de Francony & Editions Graphiques Internationales, Paris and printed by Atelier Rigal, Paris. Referenced in Field 75-8-D, 106-7. Plate size: 385mm x 585mm.

In very good bright and fresh condition and never framed, with minimal signs of handling at the far sheet edges (mostly top and bottom). Complete with melting clock and artist riding a winged porpoise, a wonderful surreal signed Salvador Dali print.

The Hommage à Leonardo da Vinci portfolio is a testament to Dalí's fascination with the Renaissance master and his ability to blend surrealism with classic art historical references.
