Original lithograph on RK Burt mould-made wove paper, signed in pencil and numbered from the limited edition of 75 (there were also 15 artist's proofs), from the Mark Rothko Memorial Portfolio. Printed by Curwen Studio and published by Matthews, Miller & Dunbar for the Mark Rothko Memorial Trust. Referenced in Balfour-Oatts/Archeus William Scott : a survey of his original prints (2005), 47. Printed to the top sheet edge, as issued.

In excellent condition, never framed and with the original grey glassine wrapper. A stunning and rare abstract William Scott still life, immediately recognisable with its bold, simplified black and white cup and bowl against a beautiful yellow ochre background. With email of Provenance from previous owner (who was gifted the portfolio).

Shortly after Mark Rothko’s tragic death in 1970, a Trust was established to facilitate travel bursaries for UK artists to make their first trip to the USA. Funds were raised largely from the sale of this portfolio comprising prints by 13 British artists, including Patrick Caulfield, Bridget Riley, Henry Moore, Victor Pasmore and Patrick Heron.
