In good condition with overall, even faint discolouration to the sheet, with possible slight fading to colours. Provenance: from the estate of Paolozzi's former partner Christine Risley (1926-2003), artist and lecturer in Textiles at Central Saint Martin's School of Art, London. The Tate Gallery holds a copy of As is When.

Paolozzi described this portfolio as 'a kind of combined autobiography' and credits Chris Prater from Kelpra Studios with 'reinterpreting a series of collages into a sound homogenous graphic [that was].. highly innovative, highly inventive, or, in some cases, another art form.' The images in As Is When are considered by many to be the first Pop masterworks of screenprint in this country.
