Eduardo PAOLOZZI Sun City (Purple)  (1967)

SOLD Get an Email Alert if it's listed again

An original screenprint from the Universal Electronic Vacuum portfolio of 10 prints. Signed Eduardo Paolozzi in pencil lower right, an artist's proof (A/P) aside from the limited edition of 75, and dedicated 'For Christine', it's provenance being the estate of Paolozzi's former partner Christine Risley (1926-2003), artist and lecturer in Textiles at Central Saint Martin's School of Art, London. Printed at Kelpra Studios, London and published by Editions Alecto, London. Referenced in Miles The Complete Prints of Eduardo Paolozzi, 47. Image size: 888mm x 610mm.

In fair/good condition with nice strong colours, please note the (water?) stain to the upper left margin and upper left sheet edge with a 1cm tear to the same edge (see 4th photo opposite), along with general, light discolouration and handling creases - the price adjusted accordingly. An extremely rare and beautiful early print by Eduardo Paolozzi, the father of British Pop Art, from this important folio which demonstates so well the artist's interest in technology and popular culture. Like many Paolozzi prints, this edition was printed in different colourways, and we love this purple variant.
