Patrick CAULFIELD Coloured Still Life  (1967)
Original screen print in colours. Signed Patrick Caulfied in pencil lower right and numbered from the edition of 75 (there were also 10 artist's proofs). Printed at Kelpra Studios, London and published by Editions Alecto, London with their stamp on the reverse. Printed to the sheet edges, as issued. Referenced in Cristea Caulfield: The Complete Prints 1964-1999, 7.
In fair/good condition with strong, bright colours: minor defects at sheet edges and a small but noticeable bend to the lower right corner not affecting the signature - see photo. Professionally repaired damage to the lower sheet edge, mostly noticeable to the reverse only but also one or two of the repairs visible to the front lower sheet edge. A few crescent-shaped handling creases with a larger one top right well away from the image. The price adjusted accordingly to match condition, this super eye-catching rare print will look stunning framed, with few of the defects visible. An extremely sought-after and seldom available early print by this ever bankable Modern British artist.
In 1967 Editions Alecto commissioned a set of six screen prints on a still-life theme, including 'Coloured Still Life'. The artist produced full-size colour models on card from which the printer, Chris Prater, cut stencils for the screens.
