Takashi MURAKAMI Homage to Francis Bacon (Study of Isabel Rawsthorne)  (2004)
Offset lithograph in colours on smooth wove paper. Signed and numbered in pen from the limited edition of 300, with cold stamp and the usual line of printed text lower left. Published by the Kaikai Kiki Factory in 2004. This is the first (and now the rarest) of several Homage to Francis Bacon prints, and are modeled on Murakami's paintings from the previous year. In very good condition and never framed, the paper has an overall very slight pearlescent sheen giving this print even more pop! This is a super eye-catching and immediately recognisable print by one of the World's most bankable contemporary artists. The other print in this pair is Study of George Dyer.
These first Murakami Bacons represent new variations of DOB that map with the silhouettes of the Bacon paintings: the shadow-like black projected at the lower part of the head of Bacon’s Isabel has a reflection in the open mouth of the Murakami Isabel.
